Me and George.
George has owned his barber shop since 1964, and has been in business ever since.
Stephen and I were walking down the streets of Toronto, George invited me in for a game of chess.  It was a little shocking to me, you don’t see that a lot in the world these days, and well my generation is a lot different then the generations before me.  Kindness from a stranger is often taken as a threat, or just down right creepy.  Naturally, being a product of this cold generation I was caught off guard and didn’t know how to react. I continued to walk away from his barbershop.
It wasn’t until I got to the end of the block that I had a realization. I really would like to sit down and play some chess with him, hear his story, maybe even become part of his story.  What a silly way for me to act to someone showing such a desire for some conversation, not that bullshit interaction on the internet, something real.
I turned right around, and felt a little more alive then before.
ahhh how I love humanity. next time someone shows you an act of kindness don’t be blind to it.
